The Hendric, a remarkable project in Breda

In the heart of North Breda stands the apartment complex, De Hendric. This project, located on the historic site of the old Drie Hoefijzers brewery, combines modern architecture with a touch of history. The name Drie Hoefijzers is a tribute to the original brewery that stood here. The entrance gates and balcony railings are even adorned with a unique motif of beer bottles, a playful nod to the past. The construction of this impressive complex began in early 2020 and was completed at the end of 2022, with the design carefully considering visibility from the nearby train route.

De Hendric was developed in collaboration with BAM Project Development, a reliable partner known for its high-quality and sustainable construction projects. Our client for the lighting was Elkor Electrical Engineering, who engaged us through BAM for this special project, to create a lighting plan that was both functional and aesthetically pleasing. There were specific requirements and demands for the lighting, especially because the building needed to be visible from a distance and have an inviting appearance.

This building shares an underground parking garage with a smaller residential complex, De Barones. For the parking garage, we installed Hydro fixtures with sensors, which are modern and sustainable. The hallways and stairwells are equipped with the Felito series, also with sensors, causing the lighting to dim to 10% in the absence of movement and increase to 100% when presence is detected. At the front doors, we installed the Eclips wall lamp square up down for stylish lighting. The special feature of this project is the Hendric LED profile, which seamlessly integrates with the wooden slats in the ceiling and walls, due to the varying lengths and the same width as the wooden slats in the ceiling and wall. We placed these custom-made LED profiles in the entrance and bike storage area. In the entrance hang three Hala Aureool pendant lamps, designed by Peter Kos, slightly tilted at different heights. These lamps are highly visible through the windows, creating a wow effect for anyone approaching the building.
